This report was produced as part of the Global Initiative for Faith, Health, and Development and was guided by the work of the Task Force of the Global Initiative. Considerable guidance and counsel was provided by GivingWorks Inc., as well as generous financial support from F.I.S.H. Foundation, Inc. and KPMG International.
The Strategic Framework lays out a series of recommendations to catalyze and promote the full engagement of faith communities and the faith sector at large to advance causes of health and development. Its production and recommendations were guided by an 83 member international task force, made up of leaders of faith and development institutions from across the word. The report presents the recommendations in three main clusters: (1) mechanisms to support collaboration; (2) approaches to improve the efficacy of the faith sector’s direct health and development interventions; and (3) improving the enabling conditions for a stronger and more effective faith sector.
The document is meant to be a resource for faith communities and faith-based development organizations to work with governments and donors to combat poverty and disease. It is also meant to serve as a guide for governments and the international community to fully engage the assets of faith communities to plan and implement health and development programs.
The Strategic Framework Report directly aligns with CIFA’s mission to increase the capacity and effectiveness of the faith sector’s collective efforts to combat poverty and disease. We hope that this tool will be useful for a wide variety of organization and individuals to join together in this goal.
