On April 24, CIFA and the Office of the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Malaria hosted the One World Against Malaria Summit at National Geographic in Washington, DC. The Summit focused on the power and potential of multi-faith action in the effort to end deaths from malaria by 2015, and was attended by global and U.S. faith leaders, high profile political officials, senior representatives from the United Nations and international institutions, and global health leaders.  In her keynote speech, US Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Susan Rice said: We have learned over the past few years that faith-based organizations [are] exceptional partners in the struggle to end malaria. Whether [their] good works are housed in a Presbyterian church in Malawi or a mosque in Nigeria, the results that they produce answer the prayers of children across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.” The summit was supported by other major players in the fight against malaria, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Case Foundation, the Global Business Coalition against HIV/AIDS, the Global Health Council, Malaria No More, the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, the United Nations Foundation, and World Vision.
